GAMEBALL and JOKER ==> GIANTS at PIRATES 06/06

GAMEBALL and JOKER ==> GIANTS at PIRATES 06/06

GAMEBALL

CASILLA

Seems like hard throwing Dominicans with good stuff and no control are a dime a dozen…..does that sound racist?? well, anyways that basically how I pegged Casilla when he first came up as I really knew little about him…..well after the Giants blew 3 leads today and it looked like it was going to be 4 blown leads……and then stepped in Casilla with a nice play on a jam shot by Milledge and the undressing Clement on three pitches to save the day……the second time this weekend he has come in mid inning to bail the Giants out of a mess…..so good work Casilla…..toil an anonymity no longer….here is your first GAMEBALL

TIP OF THE CAP :
TORRES
Stole 1 run, with 2 stolen bases a walk and 2 hits including a double to setup the game winner…..man, this kid keeps on rolling and is solidifying the top of the lineup

SANCHEZ
Kept it rolling with 2 hits and now hitting .371. not to mention the go ahead sac fly

PANDA
laced the ball a few times and got 2 hits out of it….and the shaved head…..well, people have hair for a reason…one of them is to keep all that sweat from running down your face…..slip one of those panda hat things under your helmet next time…..

URIBE
2 more hits and a big time sac fly

HUFF
2 walks ads to hims team leading 27 walk total…389 OBP??? that’s good for #10 in the league…..

TIMMY
far from sharp, but kept it together for longer spurts than the last few starts

BURRELL
1 PA, 1 Sac Fly, job done

ISHI
Has turned himself into a nice little PH'er….his last chance for a job with the Giants with Huff and Posey in town……

JOKER

WILSON

Wilson got jacked by a part time middle infielder to cough up a 2 run lead……on a 3-2 belt high hanging slider…..not only did he get beat on his second best pitch, the 2-2 pitch was also a slider……why you ask? I don't think Wilson had confidence he could throw his fastball for a strike as he badly missed the target a few times……Wilson without a fastball???....thats fast track to JOKER city my friend…..

SMACK OF THE STICK :
CEDENO
ummm….what the fuck is THAT…..dont look cool, not really even funny…..looks more like you passed out in the clubhouse and they did that to you

DONNELY
What the fuck were those??? Didn't look like the Chris Sabo goggles…..were they wire rimmed???Sorry bro, if you are going to sport the glasses you gots to go old school

GAMEBALL and JOKER--> GIANTS at METS 05/09

Wow, what a weird fucking series…..wind swirling, leads changing…...the Giants coulda swept….but are lucky to get out of there avoiding a sweep……and Today's win snapped a 9 game Home Winning Streak and during which they swept the Dodgers and Cubs, and prior to that took 3 of 4 from the Cubbies…..

GAMEBALL and JOKER--> GIANTS at METS 05/09

GAMEBALL

WILSON

Hard to upstage a late homer that turns a 1 run deficit into a lead…..but with the way late innings have gone for the Giants in New York, and with Wilson's performance….well…. he took the ball with 1 out in the 8th and took over from there……5 outs…..5 K's….teh one guy that did manage to a fair ball popped it up…..for a wind aided Double to lead off the 9th…..but that didn't faze that weird ass fucking closer…..he just shoved the ball right up the Mets ass…..with a little help from the home plate umpire……good job… and congrats on that GAMEBALL

TIP OF THE CAP :
ROWAND
Don't know what got into this guy, but he has been lights out the whole road trip…..maybe the blow to the head knocked something loose…..maybe riding the pine refocused his game…..I don't know, but hope he keeps it rolling……

URIBE
5 PA, 0 AB… that 4 walks and a HBP……

TIMMY
Did enough to get the W……..

DOWNS
Continues to look like a player……

BOWKER
Worked the difficult walk to set up Rowand

DALLAS BRADEN
Tip the cap to the Leftie across the bay….gotta like this guy……He's a Red Ass and he just threw a perfecto…..too bad noone was there to see it….$2 crack rock night is on Tuesdays not Sundays…..

JOKER

TORRES

What the fuck??? Good day at the plate was overshadowed by one of the ugliest Non-Freddie Lewis plays I have ever seen…..took a full 5 steps back, before realizing he was nowhere near the ball…I am watching this thinking…..Man, he sure is getting a running start at that throw home for the Sac Fly…..and then…..WHAT THE FUCK???? Its not like you haven't seen wind before…..if you don't know you freeze until you know…..and from the trajectory off the bat there was no way that was going out unless a hurricane wind was blowing straight in your face…..and then when you did realize you had no chance, keep your feet …the runners were tagging and you can prevent the tying run from scoring from second and the lead run from advancing to 3rd…..yes a split second play…..but a play that needs to be made….and this JOKER blew it big time…..

SMACK OF THE STICK :
ROMO
Was on the mound AGAIN for a blown Timmy W…..not really his fault….but then again…..he coulda don’t like Wilson and just strike everyone out…..

RUNZLER
Oh man, all over the place again…… raw talent……guess that’s what you get when you rush a kid through 5 levels in 1 year…….

URIBE
Let his frustration get into his head on the Error, and then didn't call off Rowand on Bay's double……

WRIGHT
Yes, you have a right to be upset, but it was close enough to be called…and your antics basically made sure that the pitch was going to get called for Davis behind you as well….and Wilson went back there on a couple more close pitches and got the calls…..whatcha mean that’s not a strike….see he keeps calling it…..dumbass

Giants Bullpen 2010.....GAMER or HEADCASE Part 4 (Last Installment)

Giants Bullpen 2010.....GAMER or HEADCASE Part 4 (Last Installment)

Opening on the road is never as cool as opening at home, but in this case it's probably a good thing… I hear that last year Tim was a bit surprised the game got started so quick after the rain delay and was a bit unprepared on his way to an early exit…Tomorrow may not be huge in the big scheme of things, but for me I am watching Tim performance with the playoffs in the back of my head…. Opening day is about a big a adrenaline rush as you are going to get outside of post season and so far in adrenaline games, he has been less than stellar….Opening Day and All Star Game Last Year ….I don't doubt he will get over the hump and be able to perform in crunch time, but the sooner he learns the better…..I want my ring dammit……

Now for the final installment before the real games begin……GAMER or HEADCASE…. the BULLPEN

BRIAN WILSON
Just a straight up wack job… Trying way to hard to be cool and funny….but there is something seriously off with this guy…I would hate to be on that LOST show with this guy, because you know he would be the first one looking to eat someone……Good thing he isn't on my plane, he is on the mound where he channels his RETARD STRENGTH into a high 90's fastball mixed with enough offspeed to keep the other team off balance….maybe it’s a blessing he is so strange, cause I'm sure hitters pick up on that weird ass vibe…..like he could just as likely strike you out as hump your dog…..
VERDICT: HEADCASE AND GAMER

JEREMY AFFELDT
Jeremy is the class clown, always looking for the spotlight and that’s cool cause he actually is pretty funny and of course his stuff is fucking filthy….He backs up his mid 90's fastball with a big bending curveball….still walks too many, but got the outs when he needed them to post a 1.73 ERA last year….don't expect a repeat of that performance, but do expect a solid lefthanded setup man out of the pen….
VERDICT: GAMER

DAN RUNZLER
Oooo boy, Leftie…. Throws Hard…. Mentored by Steve Kline and Jeremy Affeldt….this kid is going to need therapy….steamrolled through the minors last year, and the early returns are in and they are good…in fact he has the fantasy baseball community so worked up, it sounds like they just watched Erin Andrews Peephole Video
VERDICT: GAMER

GUILLERMO MOTA
Ugly, Throws hard, beans fat Brewers…what else do you need to know
VERDICT: GOON

BRANDON MEDDERS
Is he the one with Tatoos? No, oh sorry all these middling little white right handed pitchers look alike to me…. is that racist? OK, I guess so… I just hardly pay attention to journeymen at the end of the bullpen…..but as far as those types go, I think Brandon is actually pretty good……
VERDICT: VANILLA

WALDIS JOAQUIN
Now that we have established I am racist, I might as well point out that Waldis Joaquin is my new Merkin Valdez (who by the way was my New Felix Rodriguez). Black? Check… Hispanic? Check… Throws Hard? Check…..only this time his stuff has movement and he has a nasty slider…..of course as always, he needs to find the plate to be successful…. but time is on his side, welcome to the opening day roster
VERDICT: TO BE DETERMINED

SERGIO ROMO
After Romo returned from an early season injury, the bullpen just seemed to gel…giving the Giants a solid Right Handed Setup man (and getting Howry OUT of that role) Gotta love this kid, everything is weird, facial hair, and his stuff….
I can't make up my mind, you choose
Option A) his stuff BREAKS MORE than Freddy SANCHEZ'S BODY….
Option B) his stuff has MORE FUNK than Steve KLINE'S HAT……
Either way, the VERDICT: GAMER

GAMEBALL and JOKER--> CUBS at GIANTS 9/27

Wow, this is strange to be back at this again…. must admit I feel kinda rusty….

Since I left last week, the Giants have been nothing but a tease…they had jumped back into relevance with 2 wins versus the Rockies, only to lay an egg in LA falling to 4 back in the loss column…. the Giants then took 2 of 3 in the desert to pull within 3 1/2 games, and on Thursday the Giants came within 1 strike of cutting the lead to 2 games with 9 to play…..2 back with 9 to play is anyone's ball game, especially when the Rockies play their last 3 in LA, where they are 1-5 this season (and 3-12 overall vs Dodgers)…and as crazy as it seems the hope was still alive the next day, as Lincecum was on the mound trading Zero's with Zambrano and the Cards tied up the Rockies in the 7th…..but the Rockies won with a walk off and the Cubs got through to Lincecum and 3 hit the Giants and the last embers were extinguished

Can't get too upset though…it has been a great season and this team broke their streak of 4 losing seasons. They got great performances from Lincecum, Cain, Pablo, and the Bullpen… solid second 1/2 surges from Zito, Velez, and Uribe…. but you really can't blame Giants fans from being frustrated and wanting more…..
1st base , 2nd base, and Left Field were in flux all year long…..And the Vets manning Center Field, Right Field, and Shortstop each turned in their WORST full season in the Majors….and their Cleanup hitter, the ageless Bengie Molina had his worst offensive season since 2002, but at least that year he won a Gold Glove and some Jewelry to go with it…..

GAMEBALL and JOKER--> CUBS at GIANTS 9/27

GAMEBALL

CAIN

Cain had a personal 3 game losing streak going, which culminated in a spanking in Arizona so bad that it made my ass sore….Was Cain gassed from the strain of the year? Was the league catching up with him? After going 10-2 in the first half, and stat heads pointing to BABIP, Strand Rates, and Partial Differential Equations claiming it was all luck, Cain seemed to be proving them right with a return to the High 3 ERA and a record of 3-5….it was 2007-08 all over again ….so despite the lack of a postseason hope, this was a big game for Matty. It would set a career high in Wins, give him a chance at 15 Wins, and perhaps more importantly… Allow him to gain confidence and something to build on going into next year…..and Cain responded with his best start since July, going 8 shutout innings, with 8 K's and 3 hits and just 2 walks and 2 sac bunts for good measure…..Good job Matty…….

TIP OF THE CAP :
ISHKAWA/ WHITESIDE
It was the Travis and Eli show there for a moment as Ishkawa twice lead off innings with Singles, and Whiteside twice drove him in with Doubles….I swear I remember when a lineup had a top a middle and the bottom, and any runs you got from the bottom were gravy and you did your damage in the 1-5 spots……well this team is one big bottom of the lineup, and ANY runs are gravy…..

VELEZ
Lead off the game with a single, and after failing in a previous attempt to get Whiteside home from 3rd with 1 out, he got a second chance and got it done with a basehit….

JOKER

WILSON

Its only been 72 hours, but it feels like a month ago…..Wilson has had his detractors but he has really turned it on down the stretch…. since the debacle in Milwaukee in July he only had two blown saves, and both were times he was brought in during the 8th inning with the bases already juiced…..so despite a leadoff walk, when Wilson got to that last strike on some Rockie reject named Jeff Baker, everyone was chalking this up in the win column……but it wasn't to be…..as after throwing a tight slider off the edge of the plate for a Swinging strike, Baker took two sloppy sliders that weren't close…..and then with Whiteside setup on the inside corner at the knees, Wilson delivered a belt high strike that leaked towards the middle of the plate, a perfect pitch to jerk and elevate, and that’s just what Baker did…..

SMACK OF THE STICK :
ROWAND
And after THAT debacle, came the next one….with one out Winn legged out a single and Travis ground out a full count walk to put runners on 2nd and 3rd….and then our Gamer came to the plate….. Taking two called strikes down the middle before chasing a slider nowhere near the plate…..I haven't seen an at bat that bad since little league……and that was from one of those kids who didn't want to be there, but had to because "Daddy made them"…..well, pretty sure Rowand didn't want to be there either, but if he doesn't show up for work, he won't be able to buy another Aston Martin or four……

ROMO/ AFFELDT (with assist from Everitt)
Couldn't bring it home with a 5 run lead….

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Back from Chase Field…..overall a fun time, but a weird park…its fucking HUGE and I don't know how many rows are in the upper deck, but there were a ton…like Monkey posted elsewhere, the air conditioning was weird….night games, so the roof was open, but it was 95+ outside….every so often the air would shut off for 5-10 minutes and you would get a BLAST of warm air likely rushing in from the "windows" in center field…..not sure what effect this would have on flyballs, but I am sure if they wanted to the DBacks could figure out the effect and use it to their advantage……
Lots of Giants fans in attendance, and Dbacks fans did their best to keep their pride in the presence of so much orange and black…..I actually got a "Going home already" remark during the Cain start, of course I was just leaving my seats to get myself a Kosher Dog……and funny thing was, the Dbacks fans were the one's leaving early even when they had the lead…….
Arizona must be a mixed bag for players, as there were many autograph seekers who were pretty obviously going to be selling the shit….Arizona must be a haven for these leeches, with Spring Training, Minor League Camps, and the Arizona Fall and Summer Leagues……There was one really creepy guy in a Will Clark Jersey, who didn't strike me as a Giants fan, and another who got a response of "DIDN'T I SIGN FOR YOU YESTERDAY?"….of course he said it was going to his nieces and nephews……
Then again, this is a homecoming for many players with their families in attendance or nearby, as Arizona is a popular offseason home for Baseball players with its warm winters and lack of state income tax……

GAMEBALL and JOKE 07/06 MARLINS at GIANTS

Go ahead and vote for Pablo a few times before reading…..
Its ok, I'll wait……

Alright, what a game……Cain staked to an 1 run lead was able to hold the line until the Pablo slam that seemed to be more than enough…..but unfortunately no lead is safe when your closer has a Faux Hawk……

GAMEBALL and JOKE
07/06 MARLINS at GIANTS

GAMEBALL

PABLO

One thing you can say about Panda….this kid has timing……his only hit today came in when it counted the most…..1 run game, 2 out and the based juiced……1-0 Cookie on the inner half and Panda spun on it, and crushed a no-doubter 12 rows up in Left for a 5-0 lead…and he did this just as MLB Network was signing his praises and went to a "live look in" and all this on the first day of the Vote Pablo Campaign……I don't even know what to say……this kid is honestly the most deserving of the 4* candidates for final vote, add that Charismatic Love of the game and you know the execs are drooling over the marketing potential……..So Good Work Pablo…..you have done good by us, and now its our turn to show our appreciation and do good by you……..

* I counted correctly, I don't count Dodgers as candidates

TIP OF THE CAP :
ROWAND
For the funniest move of the day…..grabbing Panda and throwing him back out on the field for the curtain call……

CAINER
The new all star didn't disappoint….far from sharp with his control, he battled anyway and stayed in the game long enough for a decision……

NATE
DAMN, I could watch that highlight over and over……in a one run game, Ross was hunting for his 2nd double…..off the bat I was just hoping for a good bounce and clean pick up to prevent the speedy Ross from going to 3rd…..Nate got the carom, and in one motion made a barehanded stab, turn and fire a shot on the money to nab Ross by inches…..just in time, but clearly NAILED……

MOLINA
Burning it up on the basepaths!!! Double, sac to 3rd, and sac fly to score…….who woulda thunk it…..

ISHIKAWA
1 hit and has gone back to back starts without a K….first time since Apr 22 & 25……that's fucked up right there……

TORRES
A triple and the gun to bail Bonifacio at 2nd to make up for the bad call on Pablo's throw to 1st

JOKER

F**KER

What the FUCK?!?! 3 Run 1 inning saves are the 5 foot putts for Closers….all you have to do is NOT FUCK IT UP!!! The Velocity is there for sure, too bad there isn't much else…..Major League Hitters love hitting fastballs, and when you go 5-6 pitches deep they can get the timing down…..I swear you are Nuke Laloosh with a TV Show, and a stupid haircut……..so as discussed endlessly…. quit fucking around with all that shit, and respect the game……get that offspeed stuff in the game or you will keep getting fans all over your stupid ass……

SMACK OF THE STICK :
WILSON AGAIN
Yes, you are here too you jackass…..I forgot to mention when you DID get the groundball comebacker you threw it 1 foot off the ground and ticketed for centerfield and blown game land…..only great plays from Renteria and Ishikawa kept the game in check

DODGERS/ ANGELS
Aren't you fuckers supposed to hate each other? Yes, these two enemies have formed the most unholy alliance since that Elvis Chick married Michael Jackson …… CLICK HERE TO SEE FOR YOURSELF I guess it makes sense…. it's all one big strip mall down there anyway….

RENTERIA
Wouldn't even have been a save situation if Edgar doesn't boot that ball to lead off the 6th…

DUMMY IN LEFT
Leaning over and grabbing the ball is a no no……lucky it was a no brainer double…..another 1/2 a foot and they might have called that a Jeffrey Maier Homer…….

FRANNY
Awww poor Franny……smoked a line drive that was tracked down by Coghlan…..apparently Franny's luck is so bad that line drive counted for as an 0 for 4…..and is BABIP is -0.075…..

GAMEBALL and JOKE 06/28 GIANTS at BREWERS

Wow, all Giants all day …. great way to bounce back from yesterday. This club could have easily folded for the sweep, but instead they looked like the dominate team…..and despite losing the series, looks like the offense might actually be finding the power it needs with 5 homers and 1 stolen homer in 3 games…….

GAMEBALL and JOKE
06/28 GIANTS at BREWERS

GAMEBALL

SADOWSKI

Welcome to the big leagues, and Ryan looked like a vet as he pounded the strike zone and was able to bear down when the Brewers were threatening. Shutting down the Brewers is no small task, as a few other Giants pitchers this year can attest. The Brewers have touched up Cain, Lincecum, Zito, and Johnson all this year.….. Add your first major league knock to the pitching performance and you get today's gameball…..and maybe even another start or two……

TIP OF THE CAP :
NATE
If not for the sparkling debut for the unlikely starting pitcher, the gameball would have gone to your sparkling new Cleanup hitter, Nate Schierholz….A day after being robbed by Cameron, Nate made sure to pull the ball to Right for the homer today……Nate had 4 hits in total, including a leadoff single to start a 2nd inning rally for the 2nd consecutive day……If Bochy has a brain (debatable), he will be hitting Nate cleanup or at least near the top of the lineup…..Nate's bat looks like the 3rd real threat in the lineup next to Rowand and Pablo……you got to stack the threats to maximize the benefit…..

WINN
Collected 2 hits in the leadoff spot, and despite his woes versus Lefties, it doesn't seem to be affecting his other side…..

RENT
Another pull double, and a hard hit pull ground out to 3rd…..maybe it's too soon to write him off??? I can hope, can't I?

SABEAN
Took a gamble on Sadowski's promotion…..and it paid off …..at least for 1 day….

CAINER
Awesome…..giving the rookie the cream pie with impeccable timing and stealth…..of course a euphoric Sadowski just rolled with it right through the interview…..

HOWRY
Mr Low Leverage pitcher…..keep him there, he seems to love it……

JOKER

WILSON

Just because I took a day off yesterday, doesn't mean you get away with that shit……
After the Giants played their nuts off to get a 2 run lead, you came in and proceeded to blow chunks all over the stadium…..after getting the 1st out of the inning, Counsell battled and got an infield single that you really couldn't do anything about……and then the wheels came off……I really have two big beefs with the way that inning broke down…..first was the Walk to Gamel…..you cannot put the tying run on, especially when you are talking about a rookie with less than 100 AB's hitting around .240 AND the top of the lineup coming around……second, the way Fielder was attacked…..Hard Stuff away and Soft Stuff in…..what the fuck??? when you throw 99MPH, you bust em hard IN and go soft away and hope he rolls over on one……you put a slider on the inside corner on a leftie???? How is that supposed to fool them….and with a Slider that moves down more than in, you are going to saw him off.….you got the velocity, yougot the makeup, if you ever want to make that leap from good to great…..you need to figure out out a changeup, or at least a 3rd pitch you can show now and then…..

SMACK OF THE STICK :
URIBE
Just because it was yesterday, doesn't mean it still isn't fresh in my mind…..sure ball took a nasty hop, and you haven'y played a whole lot of 2nd base…..but that ball doesn't get through the infield…..you HAVE to knock that down…….

SABEAN
Beat to the punch on DeRosa……The Cards got him for the handsome sum or Chris Perez and a PTBNL……JEEZ…..Perez is basically a hard throwing reliever with nice slider with some control issues……you would think that some combination of Hinshaw, Sadler, and whatever coulda gotten him….or even Merkin and a player….or even Sanchez……DeRrosa woulda been a nice fit at 2nd and/ or 3rd….and he can play 1st and OF too….Basically a pretty good hitting super utility man……

BOCHY
I don't have much a problem with the timing of Zito's hook, as I do with bringing Medders into that spot….despite that sparkling ERA, he has gone cold…..last 5 outtings he is sporting a WHIP of 2.00 with an ERA of 6…..and that doesn't include the 2 inherited runners he allowed when he came in with 2 out the other day……Quit looking at ERA Bochy, put Medders at the end of the bullpen……hell, even Merkin and Howry have better peripherals…..

GAMEBALL and JOKE 06/05 GIANTS at MARLINS

GAMEBALL and JOKE
06/05 GIANTS at MARLINS

GAMEBALL

PANDA

HOLY SHIT……PANDA POWER…….so that what happens when you swing at pitches in the Zone…..I mean GOOD GOD this kid has pop……no extension whatsoever, basically the knob of the bat 2 inches from his Panda Belly….and it was a laser shot into the right field seats……Nice to have instant runs once in a while…..and although the Giants wouldn’t score again, the timing of the HR gave the Giants enough momentum to take them to the win…….BTW, that that’s the second HR by a Giants 1st baseman….

TIP OF THE CAP :
MEDDERS
Critical point in the game, nutted up and was able to get out of a 2 on, 0 out situation with on the one run across

ROMO
Woo Hoo….hell yeah…..nice to have the Wiffleballer back in action…..and he looked as good as we all remember, dazzling and bouncing his way through 2 critical innings with barely a whimper from the opposition…….This means we see less of Howry in critical situations?...hell that’s worth at least 5 points off my blood pressure……

ROWAND
Keeps on ticking…..14 game streak, 8 multi hit games…..and batting .302…YES that was….THREE ZERO TWO……..Simply amazing……

BURRISS
Looks like we got a gold glover in the making……tonight with one spectacular play turned airmail but immediately made up for it with another flipped to 2nd for the out….but really, you are here more for yesterday's omission more than anything……

ZITO
Dipped into his sack of magic curveballs and got the job done for 6 semi-solid innings…….hey…..a win is a win……

JOKER

WILSON

GOOD GOD WILSON, That was the longest scoreless inning in the history of baseball he proceeded to walk the based loaded before finally getting out of it…..literally a non stop 16 minute thrill ride (that would extrapolate to a 4 1/2 hour 9 inning game)
Dude, you are supposed to be GETTING BETTER not WORSE…….
Instead of emulating Nen or Beck, you have decided you would rather pitch like Brantley or Garrelts……hell if it wasn't for a gimme out with the sac bunt, a border line check swing, and a generous strike zone……you probably would have walked in the winning run…….
So put down the goddamn plastic fake guitar, and concentrating on your mechanics…….or maybe your twitter buddy can go visit Narnia and get you a magical +2 rosin bag of control, or perhaps the mystic cleats of hard breaking curveballs

SMACK OF THE STICK :
MARLINS FANS
OK, so nobody in the stadium……do we HAVE to have the microphones turned to sensitive so you can hear every stupid freaking noise?????
It doesn't make it sound like the park is full, it makes it sound like the park is full of retards…….I swear to god, who the fuck kept yelling TIMMY!!!!
Ok, who is Timmy….well maybe they are saying Jeremy for Hermida…..no…..they are definitely saying Timmy…….
And THAT was the coherent stuff coming from the stands…….really most of the crap you can hear sounds like Tibetan Monks reading Dr Seuss, with a few small animals being tortured for good measure……

SPONGETECH
OK what the FUCK???? I've seen ads all over major league baseball….and now RIGHT BEHIND THE PLATE in MIAMI????
Are sponges such a good business that you can buy premium advertising space now?
OK, maybe its some big ass company offering contract services like Aramark or something
WRONG…..don't even give them the gratification of going to the site……
IT’S A GODDAMN "INFOMERCIAL-STYLE" PRODUCT…..good god…..has baseball advertising sunk to this level?
Is it just a matter of time before we visit Sham WOW Park, or ChiPet Stadium, or maybe even…..Flobee Field……

Randy Johnson, 300 Wins…blah blah blah
Well, that's not cool give the man his props…..300 wins is one hellova milestone……hell, ask Blyleven what he would give for another shot at it……
By now, you have read 100x about Randy's accomplishment and his "solitary" road to 300…..which got me thinking…..300 wins has GOT to be one of the loneliest milestones in baseball…..a stat which relies heavily on team performance, ends up being a near solo performance by the time you get to 300……
Lets look as some of the recent 300 game winners.
Randy is the 10th player to reach 300 wins since Perry in 1982 (before that it was Early Wynn in 1963)
Here is the list, with total wins, most wins with 1 team, and 300 win team

Only 1 player won his 300th game with the team he won a plurality (more than others) of his games…and even Carlton spent a good chunk of his early career with the Cardinals and played for 6 different teams
So by the time a pitcher gets to 300 games, he is more or less a hired gun either rounding out the end of a staff or brought in for PR…..so really Randy is the norm, not the exception…….
You see Gaylord Perry on that list? After wearing 8 different uniforms and winning most of his games away from the orange and black, many people don't see Perry as a Giant. For me, if it wasn't for the retired number, the in park ceremonies, and the bobblehead I see Perry in a Rangers uniform, just because that’s when I first remember knowing who he was……
And in a way, I think this puts him in a special position to understand Randy's career…..
Now what could a Fireballing Leftie have in common with a spitballing Righthander……
Well there is some interesting symmetry…..
Gaylord is identified with San Francisco(134 wins), and won his 300 with Seattle
Randy is identified with Seattle (130 wins), and won his 300 with San Francisco
Both players won less than 50% of their games with one team
Both pitchers won 100 games in the AL and NL
Gaylord took 21 years and 7 teams to win 300
Randy took 22 years and 6 team to win 300
Both pitchers won the Cy Young their first year away from "home"
Randy with Arizona, Perry with Cleveland
So for the Journeyman Randy, today is a day to recognize your accomplishment……a truly individual milestone with a team stat in a team game…..quite a feat to be sure….. and here's hoping Gaylord gives you a call of congratulations….as only he could possibly understand the road you traveled

TIP OF THE CAP :
CAIN
7-1…..hard luck loser got the late support from the Offense right before the rain came down……xERA, BPV, LOB%, BABIP, FIP, YMCA???? Who gives a shit…for all the bad luck this kid has put up with the past few years, he deserves any "luck" he is getting now
and BTW statheads…..K/9 went from 6.24 to 6.69 in 1 game..feeling better about that K rate?

RAIN
Hey…..I'll take it…..as the Giants slip away into the rainy night with their 3rd road series win of the year……and the pen is rested up for the rest of the roadtrip

ROWAND
Wasn't exactly as hot as the past week, but converted hits in both games…..and that’s a 13 games hit streak with 12 runs and 9 RBI……including the tying RBI and winning Run in the rain shortened game…..

SCHIERHOLTZ
Did that hit count? if so, that’s every single starter with a hit in 5+ innings of game 2……

JOKER

WILSON

Good god twitter boy…. you trying to give Randy a heart attack????
After gnawing at the bit all day yesterday and through the delay today, you came awfully fucking close to blowing 300 for the Unit….called on to get 1 out in the 8th, Wilson walked Zimmerman to load the bases…..which means THROW STRIKES to the Dunn…and with the count full you got bailed out by a strike 3 call, that was borderline at best…..and something tells me that the last thing the Umpire wanted was a tie game…….Good thing the Giants scored in the bottom 1/2 of the 8th…..cause nobody wanted to see what could happen if you needed 3 more outs….

SMACK OF THE STICK :
NATIONALS "FANS"
Really?
You kidding me right….sure it was a Wet day and an unplanned double header, but when you got more people on the field than in the stands, something is wrong…..
And looks like "Nationals Park" already lost that new park appeal with 20K average attendance comes in just ahead of Pittsburg, Oakland, and Florida……I don't think is what MLB had in mind when they moved the team from Montreal…….Just get it over with and contract Florida and Washington already…..and while you are at it, we will take Zimmerman and Hanley off your hands…..

GROUNDS CREW
Wet track around 3rd almost killed a few Giants today….from Fred Lewis slipping and sliding, to Randy Winn looking like he was going to break an ankle, to Panda doing a face plant ……hey, when you are throwing down the turface…..make sure you get some around the cut of the grass near third……..

GAMEBALL and JOKE 5/21 GIANTS at PADRES

Just in case you had grown accustom to pain the last two nights, fate had a new twist for us this evening…..and the twisting was the knife in our belly…….
After somehow managing to score more than one run in a game, all looked well……
AND THEN……………

GAMEBALL and JOKE
5/21 GIANTS at PADRES

GAMEBALL

ROWAND

Look at whats happened to Mr Whipping Boy…..after being moved to the leadoff spot, he has found his stroke and become the biggest threat in this anemic lineup……with a BOMB off the wall for a single and a solo shot Rowand is on fire……so leave this fucker in the leadoff spot until he cools off….god knows we need all the offense we can get

TIP OF THE CAP :
WINN
Been the only consistent threat for the Giants in San Diego….with his 3rd straight multi hit game…….

TIMMY
Pitched solid ball and kept the Giants in the game…..

JESUS
Welcome to the club…now if you are gonna be all thumbs around the bag, you better start hitting quick

JOKER

WILSON

From all star to twitter asshole to new favorite goat……..
Brian had a horrible ninth…with a squibber…..two walks …..and a hit batter to tie the game….and then on a 0-1 pitch the Anti Giant Scott Hairston singled home the winning run……and look what Hairston hit….a CURVE……I bet Mr 99 MPH uses this as an excuse to junk that pitch…….fucking JOKER

SMACK OF THE STICK :
ECKSTEIN
Complete bullshit if you ask me……Just happens to hang over the plate….and just HAPPENS to get hit on the arm….flinched about 1 inch but made NO effort to get out of the way…..come on Blue, enforce the rule……if the batter makes no attempt to get out of the way……no HBP……..of course I have only remember 1 time the rule was actually enforced…..Of course it was enforced against the Giants while facing the Dodgers

HAIRSTON
This bad joke keeps getting worse…..this guy owes his Major League Career to the Giants….and now Gerut has been sent packing……which means Scott gets the starts vs Righties now too… OH JOY!!!

PETCO
The House that was built "to be Bonds proof" is having unintended effects…..
This place was never really Bonds proof, but I can tell you its 2009 Giants proof…..in yet ANOTHER 3 game sweep, Petco has been a house of horrors……with the park holding every hard hit the Giants can muster….but its more than that……its very bad juju……..hard hit balls into tailor made double plays…….and then the Padres Chop and Squib and Bloop their runs…….the Giants are obviously hitting the ball too hard……just swing soft and maybe you can get lucky like the fucking Padres….
