GAMEBALL and JOKE 07/05 ASTROS at GIANTS

After a shitty game like that, glad we have something to distract us……
HOORAY The Giants put two pitchers in the all star game for the first time since 2008, and Tim makes back to back all star appearances for the first time since Barry Bonds……ok, well I guess the Giants and All Star games have gone hand in hand over the years and Cain and Tim continue that tradition…..
This IS the first time that Giants have put two starting pitchers in since 1966…..

GAMEBALL

CAIN

CONGRATS MR CAIN on your first all star appearance…..after breaking into the big leagues at age 20, Matt has been one of the more solid pitchers in the league posting better than average ERA's every year while making 30+ starts in each of his full seasons. Under appreciated because of his low win loss totals and lack of bullpen and run support, tables have turned as Cain is now putting up the W's that baseball old timers seem to love….no longer unappreciated, I even heard an ESPN pundit plugging Cain for an All Star start last night…..good work Mr Cain, here is a GAMEBALL to go with your first all star appearance……

TIP OF THE CAP :
TIM
Back to back all star appearances…and bet we see a bunch more in his future…..enjoy your time in St Louis Timmy…..and make sure that everything you eat is boiled for at least 1 hour.

ISHIKAWA
Got the first hit of the game…….and didn't even strike out!!! WOooo Hooooo

AURILIA
Got the G's on the board…..

JOKER

MANUEL

I still can't believe this retard won the World Series. I guess it's true that talent can overcome even the most dense managers.....but that's not why you are here today……I don't know what kinda of influence the NL All Star Manager has these days, but how Ryan Howard gets onto the team as the FOURTH 1st baseman I have no idea…..Pujols for sure, A Gonzales of course, Fielder is having a great year…..do we really need Howard and how are you going to get playing time for all these guys. Sure Howard can hit the ball a mile, but so can Adam Dunn and at least he walks…..Howard is a one dimensional player with low average and low walk totals…..sure he was the Home Run leader from last year, but the All Star game is always about the first half performances (see Hawpe) and sentimental favorites….Using that criteria, you could even pick Reynolds in front of Howard. Similar numbers and that would give you a 3rd baseman instead of another 1st baseman, and he is out homering, out walking and out fielding Howard…..but of course, I really think that Pablo should be the man…..Sure the average is there, but also the charisma……and the Panda is even out slugging Howard ..566 to .524….Luckily for us, seems like media around the country is pushing Pablo….Cards broadcasters, Mets broadcasters, Astros Broadcasters, hell….even ESPN…..but the issue still stands…..what the hell do you do with 4 first baseman?.....not exactly giving yourself to end the streak vs the AL are you????

SMACK OF THE STICK :
MELONHEAD
Hmmmm, wonder if Randy was hurt……well after he winced and threw the bat and grabbed hit left shoulder……maybe that was a clue…….
And here is the inside scoop, I have from a reliable source the actual conversation between Randy and Melonhead that happened between innings….

"Hey Randy you OK?" -Melonhead

"Feel fine skip, gimme the damn ball or I crush you" -Randy

"Well, I never heard of a player lying about pain, so I will trust you and give you the ball. Who cares if you have an extensive injury history and are 105 years old. I will also mention that we have a very rested pen with 8 relievers and Cain pitching tomorrow…..I think the smart move here is to stay with the pitcher who was just grabbing his throwing shoulder in pain….its not like you are going to serve up a couple of cookies and then make an errant throw down the line while grabbing your shoulder again in pain. No, that won't happen" -Melonhead

(ok, I made that up…..but it sounded real, didn't it?)

AURILIA
Good job breaking up the shutout…..and here is another 2 months on the roster…..
