2009 Food Review #1 Thai Yellow Curry with Chicken

[big]

Well I ate almost every sausage in the park in 2006 and posted the reviews…..The prices have gone up about $0.25-$0.50 depending where you go….more stands have opened…..but otherwise the reviews are still valid and

So add that to the fact that my insurance only covers 3 angioplasties per year, and its time to expand my menu……..

Name: Thai Yellow Curry with Chicken
Price: $8.75
Location: Edsel Ford Fongs, Field Club
Condiments: Yellow Mustard, and 2 Relish Packets
Cooked: Freshly Stir Fried over Steamed Rice
Size: Medium
Detail:
Was game 2 of the season, so they were still getting their shit together. I was in back of the line that was moving slowly……turns out they had run out of \rice, and they were offering noodles as a replacement......after a few minutes the rice arrived and the line started moving……The guy in front of me got the Tofu, and it was just rice and tofu….he complained ….and after some arguing between the cook and cashier in Chinese (I assume it was arguing, but Chinese always sounds like arguing) the Cashier topped the bowl with some veggies and apologized to the customer. ….So finally I place my order…….Rice? Check….. Veggies? Check……Yellow Curry? Check….. so I find a seat and dig in……..decent sized portion, similar with what I would expect as a lunch special in a restaurant…….Fairly generous with the Chicken that were chopped into bite size (albeit LARGE BITE) pieces……The chicken was a bit dry and chewy as it had been cooked and sat being kept warm for at least a few minutes……otherwise the Chicken and Bell Peppers presented a nice texture of chew and crunch…… small bits of Lemon Grass need to be navigated around and the basil left was on the top which made the presentation a little nicer…….The curry flavor was very good, sweet and a little hot spicy…..but really muted……The muted flavor wasn't for a lack of juices, as the rice was well saturated…..it seemed to be an imbalance of the Coconut Milk to the Curry that put a damper on this dish……. The Rice too seemed to be a bit much, especially considering the weak flavor of the curry and it was left unfinished…….even so it was a fairly filling meal, and I would be curious to try again later in the year to see if they have balanced the dish a little better…….by the way, it comes in the same closeable bowl as the Cha Cha which makes for easy transport to your seats, and easy to eat or store at your seat………

OVERALL RATING
2 1/2 Buddha Bellies
(could go to 3 or 3 1/2 if they could work out the balance on this dish)
